Statement by CPSMA in relation to current industrial action

CPSMA values the hard work, dedication and commitment of our school secretaries and caretakers, who are truly at the heart of our school communities. They are often the first to meet children, parents and visitors, and their contribution ensures that schools run smoothly and remain safe, welcoming places of learning.
As a management body, CPSMA is aware of the challenges currently being faced in our schools. We are particularly aware of the impact on principals, teachers, boards of management, pupils and families, all of whom rely on the vital support of secretaries and caretakers.
CPSMA calls on the Government to intervene immediately to facilitate constructive dialogue towards a satisfactory resolution of the matter, in a way that acknowledges the central role of these staff members in every school community.
