17th July 2013 | News

CPSMA welcomes the decision of Ruairí Quinn, T.D., Minister for
Education and Skills, to reverse the reduction in the level of Resource
Teaching hours for pupils with special educational needs announced last
week by the NCSE. This means the level of resource teaching hours for
pupils with special educational needs will remain at last year’s levels.
The
revised details of the Resource Teaching allocations for schools will
be published by NCSE on its website at 10am this morning. The NCSE will
also be advising schools of their revised allocations in the coming
days.
The Minister also announced the establishment of a working
group to develop a new model for allocating resource teachers in schools
to be chaired by Mr. Eamon Stack, former Chief Inspector in the
Department of Education and Skills.
