What constitutes an adequate accounting system
will depend on the size of the shool and the diversity of its
activities.  However, a computerised template of an efficient accounting
system is available on the Department’s website.  Boards of Management
are asked to consider utlising this package for accountimg systems (DES
2011, Constitution of Boards and Rules of Procedure, pp 27/28).

  • Design guidance
  •  Exemplar designs and templates
  •  Technical guidance documents.

Technical Guidance Documents Updates


Technical guidance documents are regularly updated. 

For example DES published a new Suite of Design Team Procedures in April, 2012; new planning and design guidance in August, 2012; three new technical guidance documents in September, 2012; and further technical guidance documents in November 2012.
