Good Practice – Drinking Water Quality

27th August 2013 | News

The DES has sent the below information to schools regarding good practice  in relation to drinking water quality –

“As schools return from the summer holiday period, the Department of Education and Skills has been advised by the HSE that as good practice it is recommended that school authorities run all drinking water taps for a number of minutes (3-4) before the water is used for drinking.

This is intended to “flush” the system of any contaminants which may have built up in water lying dormant in pipes over the summer period.”
