CPSMA welcomes cost of living payment for Schools

27th October 2023 | News, What's New

CPSMA has warmly welcomed the publication of Circular 0056/2023 “Cost of living measure to support increased school running costs” and the payment of the first tranche of the “cost of living capitation payment”.

Over the last few months CPSMA has highlighted to the Department the acute financial challenges facing primary schools this year, due to continuing inflationary pressures and additional salary costs. CPSMA strongly welcomed the payment of the grant as much needed indeed critical financial shot in the arm for struggling schools.

CPSMA also welcomed announcements by the Minister and her officials that the ICT grant would be paid in 2024.

While welcoming this additional grant allocation, CPSMA has urged the Department to act swiftly to pay all other grants and monies due to schools, and to put in place a realistic, and fixed Grants Calendar for the 23/24 school year so that schools could plan and budget effectively.
