Child Protection Seminars for Boards of Management

25th February 2019 | News, Training, What's New

As a follow up to our Spring 2018 Child Protection training events, CPSMA will be delivering a series of Child Protection seminars at the six venues listed below.

As the majority of schools will be reviewing their Child Safeguarding Statement in the coming weeks, this training will serve as a reminder to Boards of their obligations under the Children First Act 2015 and the DES Child Protection Procedures 2017.

The training will also incorporate an overview of the new Child Protection Safeguarding Inspection, published by the Inspectorate in late January, and operational from February 2019.

The new model of inspection includes checks “on the provision of information and relevant training to school personnel and board members in respect of child protection; the board’s awareness of its Garda vetting obligations; reporting about child protection to the board of management; and fulfilling certain reporting and record keeping obligations in relation to child protection matters.”

The training will commence at 7 p.m. and should finish at 9 p.m.

Teas and Coffees will be served on arrival at 6.30 p.m.

These are the only Child Protection seminars planned for the remainder of the 2018/2019 school year.

To this end, we would ask that you encourage as many Board members as possible to attend the training.
